Peter Freischlag creates bold, expressive watercolors that invite the viewer into a world shaped by imagination, movement, and feeling. His subjects range from wildlife and desert creatures to Western figures and quiet moments of wonder, but the heart of the work is never simply the subject itself. It is the sense of life within it.

Working with a limited palette, Freischlag layers vibrant pigments to push watercolor beyond its traditional boundaries. Each original painting is mounted on a custom wood panel and sealed with archival beeswax resin, giving the work a distinctive surface, permanence, and presence without glass.

His paintings are often large in scale, some among the largest privately owned watercolors in the world, yet their impact comes from intimacy as much as size. A curious bison, a butterfly in motion, a cowboy caught in the glow of a cinematic sunset, each piece asks the viewer to pause, look closer, and just imagine.

No prints. No editions. Each work is an original story told one painting at a time.
