ARTIST RECEPTION: Peter Freischlag
Saturday, December 13th, 2025
The frontier was never black and white. It was blood and dust. Legend and lie. The good, the bad—and everything in between.
This new series has been simmering in me for a while now. I’ve always been drawn to the tension of the Old West—the blurred lines between law and lawless, freedom and consequence, fact and folklore. A Watercolor Journey Through the Good, the Bad, and the Legendary is my way of stepping into that world and letting it spill out in paint.
These aren’t stiff portraits of history. They’re alive. Unruly. Charged with motion, mood, and a little madness. I’ve been deep in research—reading books like The Gunfighters by Bryan Burrough—and letting those stories seep into every brushstroke. Each painting captures a moment where myth and man collide. Some of these characters were heroes. Some were monsters. Most were somewhere in between.
My watercolors have always chased energy and emotion, but this series goes further. It’s raw. It’s bold. It’s a little bit wild. And it’s the most personal journey I’ve taken with my art yet.
Come meet the outlaws this December.
